We provide accredited online and face to face training and support to enable frontline professionals to identify and effectively respond to issues of extremism and radicalisation. A nationally provided and accredited training programme to train frontline professionals on how to identify and effectively respond to concerns around extremism and radicalisation. The training exists to provide additional support to existing safeguarding procedures and practices.

Level 1. Prevent E-learning resource is available for all other frontline education staff at www.elearning.prevent.homeoffice.gov.uk or via www.educateagainsthate.com

Level 2. 2 hour Prevent Awareness training: Target audience: Staff members with specific Safeguarding responsibilities such as DCPO or SLT members

 

Benefits

 

• This is an easily accessible and engaging training resource which only requires one and a half hours of staff time (the training package can be amended for bespoke setting and staff requirements).

• The training fits easily into staff team and structures as it is recommended that all staff who have contact with pupils should attend.

• "Prevent" will be a statutory responsibility and engagement around this agenda is included in OfSTED inspections. Accessing this training and up skilling staff on the risks and responses to extremism and radicalisation helps to meet inspection criteria.

• This training helps to enhance the safeguarding structures in place at the school to ensure that they are able to respond to any vulnerable pupils needs. This training builds on providers existing safeguarding capacity and experience.

• The school can be supported with education resources and advice on how to ensure their safeguarding procedures take account of the upcoming "Prevent" duty.

Key Service Features


• The training provides an overview and introductory understanding of the susceptibilities of extremism, the risks of radicalisation, the behaviours those vulnerable may present, what to do, and information on referrals and intervention.

• The training is interactive and uses group exercises, video clips and case studies to engage staff and attendees by demonstrating Prevent in action.

• Training is delivered by a Home Office accredited trainer who is part of the borough's safeguarding and community safety structures.

• The target audience are Governors, teachers, teaching assistants, and pastoral staff whom have either have strategic Safeguarding responsibilities or contact with pupils.

Our Services in Detail


1) This is an hour and a half interactive training session that uses video clips of examples of Right Wing and Isis influenced extremism and group work to raise professional understanding of the signs and drivers of extremism.

2) The training is accredited and designed by the Home Office with input from professionals from across a range of sectors including; education, health, Probation, mental health services and the police. It is recognised across the country and by inspection bodies such as OfSTED.

3) The training also provides an opportunity to share information with colleagues relating to the safeguarding structures in place in the borough in relation to extremism, for example the role of the Channel Panel which is the Haringey's multi-agency forum for discussing cases where there may be vulnerability to extremism, and advising on any appropriate interventions.
