The Healthy Schools Programme is an award based programme. We help your school improve educational, health and wellbeing outcomes Healthy Schools Haringey is an accredited, evidence based programme that supports schools to maintain their Healthy School status and supports Bronze, Silver and Gold achievement awards as part of Healthy Schools London programme.

- The Healthy Schools programme has 4 core themes; healthy eating, physical activity, emotional health and wellbeing and PSHE (including sex and relationship education and drugs and alcohol education)

Our Services in Detail

1) Expert guidance and support in completing procedures and documentation to achieve Healthy School Haringey (and Healthy School London) awards. We will support you in achieving your awards using approved methods

2) We will act as a "broker" for Healthy School London accreditation - we will support you step-by step through the process including face to face meetings at the school, emails and over the telephone to ensure you are fully prepared.

3) We will help your school with Health and wellbeing data analysis and information to identify health needs across the school community. We support you with priorities to form a Healthy School Silver action plan based around schools needs.These include increased physical activity, promoting emotional wellbeing (including bullying) or healthy eating improvement plans.

4) Access to on site health and wellbeing services and resources for pupils, staff, parents/carers and wider school community

5) Access to aligned support programmes. These vary from health and wellbeing days at your school to theatre productions for emotional health and wellbeing promotion. The Christopher Winter project can help schools with Public Health and staff training.

6) An evidence based programme of interventions, training and resources. Your school will receive a resource packed weekly email service to signpost up-to-date guidance, support and resources (including Change4Life) and school specific training support

 

Terms
Service Standards

 

1) We work with schools as key partners to identify health priorities to address the needs of each school and in the local community.

2) The Healthy Schools programme works towards corporate priorites "Giving every child the best start in life". We work to meet local and national Child obesity targets, emotional health and wellbeing and PSHE outcomes. These include targets to reduce teenage pregnancies.

3) KPI's include measures for reducing child obesity as outlined in the council health and wellbeing strategy and corporate plan.

4) Public Health Outcomes framework. Child obesity is a national and local indicator in the public health outcomes framework. Excess weight monitoring at reception and year 6 children. The Healthy School programme works towards these outcomes

5) Our Healthy Schools programme is committed to evaluation of up-to date evidence. Healthy Schools London are leading on a panLondon data evaluation which we will share with schools on a regular basis


Statutory Services


1) National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP). This measures data on child obesity nationwide.

2) Public Health commission. The school nursing service, which works with and provides services to schools. They provide a primary health promotion and disease prevention universal service.
